Their Virgin Captive & Their Virgin’s Secret by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake (2 Book Reviews)

BOOK ONE
Brothers Gavin, Slade, and Dex, fall hard for Gavin’s new secretary, beautiful Hannah Craig. The oil executives know they must give her time to get to know them before she can choose one . . . who will seduce the virgin and keep her for his own. But when a dangerous predator begins stalking the small-town beauty, they work together to protect her, abducting Hannah and spiriting her to an isolated hideaway. Once alone with her, none of them can contain their burning desire. Though Slade and Dex don’t mind sharing, Gavin’s tragic past has put distance between him and his brothers. Now, they’re hoping that not only will Hannah love them back . . . but maybe mend their fractured family.

After overcoming her initial fears, the men teach her wild pleasure she’s never imagined. She grows closer to each, their devotion melting her inhibitions. Hannah finds herself embracing love with all three men—and hoping she can heal Gavin’s wounded soul. But her new found happiness turns to terror when her stalker finds her. Will Gavin, Slade and Dex lose their woman to a menace that threatens everything they hold dear, or will they finally unite to make Hannah theirs forever?

First, I would like to state that I DID READ the back cover before I purchased the story; however, I bought the book anyways because I am a fan of hers.

I wasn’t a fan of three brothers sharing a solitary woman, but that’s my personal ICK factor playing a role there.

If you forget they were brothers, the scenes were hot. The men…yummo!

The other glitches ….

A twenty-five year old virgin having sex multiple times but isn’t sore? Dex and Slade touched on it about giving her the “morning off”. But, she didn’t mention it or act as if she was sore in the slightest bit. That (for me) isn’t realistic.

The fifty spankings? Again, she was new to this lifestyle so I don’t see fifty spankings so soon no matter her offense.

And the stalker – very easy to figure out. 🙁

With all that said, I am willing to continue on with the series and see what book two has in store for me.

BOOK TWO

Two Men on a Mission
Security Professionals Burke and Cole Lennox have shared women before but never meant to fall in love with one. Their lives are precarious, always on the edge of trouble. But Jessa Wade is too tempting, too perfect to let go. They’re on a dangerous mission, but they can’t help but get close to the beautiful, innocent artist. When their mission takes them to a foreign land, they reluctantly leave their love behind, promising to return for her one day.

A Woman with a Secret
After her lovers disappeared, Jessa Wade bravely moves on with her life, protecting her secret. But when she becomes the target of one of Burke and Cole’s enemies, the men leap into action, vowing to save their woman and to never leave again. As danger stalks all three, they must come together and face the mistakes of their past. On the run and out of time, Burke and Cole will fight for their future with Jessa. But will Jessa’s secret bring them together…or tear them apart?

Brothers sharing a woman is an ongoing theme with the series and I’ve grown tired of the same theme.

If you take that out of the equation, I enjoyed this story a thousand times more than Their Virgin Captive

This story had a better, more thought-out plot. I didn’t feel it got pushed aside or rushed in lieu of the sex scenes.

Theirs to Cherish by Shayla Black (Book Review)

The perfect place for a woman on the run to disappear…

Accused of a horrific murder she didn’t commit, former heiress Callie Ward has been a fugitive since she was sixteen—until she found the perfect hideout, Club Dominion. The only problem is she’s fallen for the club’s Master, Mitchell Thorpe, who keeps her at arm’s length. Little does she know that his reasons for not getting involved have everything to do with his wounded heart…and his consuming desire for her.

To live out her wildest fantasies…

Enter Sean Kirkpatrick, a Dom who’s recently come to Dominion and taken a pointed interest in Callie. Hoping to make Thorpe jealous, she submits to Sean one shuddering sigh at a time. It isn’t long before she realizes she’s falling for him too. But the tender lover who’s slowly seducing her body and earning her trust isn’t who he claims…

And to fall in love.

When emotions collide and truths are exposed, Sean is willing to risk all to keep Callie from slipping through his fingers. But he’s not the only man looking to stake a claim. Now Callie is torn between Sean and Thorpe, and though she’s unsure whom she can trust, she’ll have to surrender her body and soul to both—if she wants to elude a killer…

Was this book sexy as hell? Yes.

Did the love scenes make my heart race, certain parts of my anatomy ache? HELL YES!

And folks, I am not ashamed to admit the scenes between Sean, Callie, and Thorpe are panty wetters.

The scenes were so hot, I almost forgot there was a plot happening in the background.

If you read nothing else from her – READ THIS!

Review of “Burn” – Maya Banks

When it comes to sex, Ash McIntyre has always explored his wilder side—extreme and uncompromising. He demands control. And he prefers women who want it like that. Even the women he’s shared with his best friend, Jace.
But Jace is involved with a woman he has no intention of sharing. And now even Gabe has settled into a relationship with a woman who gives him everything he needs, leaving Ash feeling restless and unfulfilled.

Then Ash meets Josie, who seems immune to his charms and his wealth. Intrigued, he begins a relentless pursuit, determined she won’t be the one who got away. He never imagined the one woman to tell him no would be the only woman who’d ever drive him to the edge of desire.

Ash was a sexy, sweet, domineering man who’d do anything for his woman which included beating a man to a pulp for laying a hand on his woman. He also dealt with another man who threatened his woman but in a way which didn’t come back onto him. (not divulging how)
However, the issue with the second (repeat appearance form a bad guy from “Rush”) seemed… rushed. The whole section in my opinion came be summed up with the phrase, “Coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb.”

I was hoping for more but maybe in some instances… less is more.

As with the other two books in the series, the sex scenes were very erotic which is a plus in my book.

All in all, I did feel the series became better the more I read of it. I’m glad I stuck with it.

Review of “Fever” – Maya Banks

Jace Crestwell, Ash McIntyre, and Gabe Hamilton have been best friends and successful business partners for years. They’re powerful, they’re imposing, they’re irresistibly sexy, and Jace and Ash share everything—including their women.
When they meet Bethany, Jace begins to feel things he’s never experienced before: jealousy, and a powerful obsession that threatens him, overwhelms him—and excites him beyond control.

Jace isn’t sharing Bethany—with anyone. He’s determined to be the only man in her life, and it’s jeopardizing a lifelong friendship with Ash. Bethany will be his and his alone. Even if it means turning his back on his best friend.

For those who read my review of “Rush” on January 21st, I am pleased to say I did find BOOK TWO of the Breathless trilogy more “original”. (If this statement confuses you, please take a moment to read the “Rush” critique – Click here to be redirected)

As I write this review, I recently came inside from below zero temperatures. I was out in the frigid air for only a few minutes and was miserable. I can’t fathom how anyone, such as Bethany and Jack, can survive living out there in this dreadful weather 24-7. I know MANY people do of various ages. That is a very sad thought. Heartbreaking…….

Speaking of heartbreaking, the hospital scene had me gasping for a breath. Maya absolutely wrote it in a way where you felt you were there with Gabe, Ash, Mia, Jace, and Bethany. That is what I call fine ass writing.

Review of the Fifty Shades trilogy – E L James

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

Since the buzz of the movie has showing up on every entertainment network/magazine, I decided to dive back into the trilogy and refresh my memory on things I might’ve skimmed over or forgotten about the first go around. Also, I wanted to see if my opinion of the series had changed at all.

After the second read thru, my thoughts hadn’t budged at all. I still find Ana a tad bit whiny. Plus, I thought she apologized to Grey way too many times. She constantly wondered if he was mad at her. Maybe it was her lack of experience which made her seem immature or maybe it was her age. With that said, I’ve known a few people freshly out of college who had more confidence than her. Again, I fall back on her “lack of experience”.

I did like book II and III had more of a plot than book I. Of course, the first book was all about setting up for the rest of the trilogy so in all fairness, E L did a good job laying it all out for her readers. The contract papers — yeah, I could never be a lawyer because I found it dry rather than entertaining.

Favorite scene occurred in book II, Fifty Shades Darker. Grey dropping to his knees in the submissive pose was a powerful moment (for me, at least).

I also like the bonus scene where we got to see their first encounter (interview scene) through his eyes. Very nice idea E L or her editors had there.

I’m still debating watching the big screen take of the series because I’m usually disappointed with the outcomes. However, my curiosity is peaked how they will portray some of the BDSM scenes.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the trilogy and upcoming movie. Please leave  a comment below!
