Author Showcase/Interview and Review of “Programmed to Please” – Jenna Ives

Very human Tau Cetus police agent Jai Turner is sent undercover as a Beautiful Dolls sex robot in order to bring down the planet’s most notorious arms dealer, Marque Callex. Jai’s assignment is to use the Beautiful Dolls’ legendary sexual techniques to coax information out of Marque on his illicit dealings – information that will lead to his conviction.

Reclusive arms dealer Marque Callex only accepted an invitation from Beautiful Dolls because with his deadly line of work – and the dangerous secrets he’s keeping – he can’t afford to let a real woman into his life. But neither Jai nor Marque are what they seem, and their week together has consequences neither expect.

(review request submitted by the author for an honest critique)

A world with sexbots? Yeah I can totally see that coming to pass. With the way technology is advancing, I have no doubt a life-like robot isn’t being developed somewhere in a lab right now.

Creepy?
Maybe.

My real concern is how sanitary the bots will be to their “renters”. I mean, if I were to purchase the services of a sexbot (not saying I would), I need to make sure it’s been scrubbed since the last “user” had its fill of it.

Hello, germaphobe over here!!

Thankfully, there was no actually BOT BOINKING happening between Jai and Marque. Jai merely pretended to be one, rather convincingly too. Of course, when you are as lonely as Marque, you’ll believe it because you’re starved for a few moments of happiness. Real or not. (Special Note: There was some robot fun during a “training” session. Jai had to learn how to sexual perform as a robot.

Luckily for him, the feelings he developed for Jai saved him. Literally and figuratively.

All in all, I liked this book – a lot. It wasn’t all about the sex. It had a solid plot and that plot wasn’t pushed to the backside while we watched repeated sexual scenes splashed across the screen/pages.

For me personally, I think a story is golden when the plot is not throw out there like an afterthought.
So with the combination of great sex scenes and a solid plot, which wrapped up nicely with no lingering “WTF” moments, I’m highly suggesting you order yourself a copy today.

1. Welcome, Jenna Ives! For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in the writing business?

(Jenna) I started telling stories to my two brothers and little sister when I was about eleven, so you could say the creative gene came out in me at a very early age. From there it was easy to put the stories down into print.

2.  Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, please share how you handle it.

(Jenna) My critique partner says there’s no such thing as writer’s block, just bad planning. I’ll bet you can guess she’s a plotter, LOL! I’m a “pantser” (I write by the seat of my pants) so sometimes I DO experience writer’s block, but I believe that if you know how your story starts and how it ends, then getting there is part of the fun, even if sometimes you stumble along the way! If I feel blocked, I take a
nap. Or a walk. The mind is very good at thinking even when you don’t think you’re thinking, LOL. The answers will come and the “block” will dissolve.

3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us. With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how do you spend your time?

(Jenna) Well, I have a day job (actually two jobs) so I don’t have a lot of free time. At night and on the weekends I try to write as much as I can, but I DO have a standing date with my husband. We go to an afternoon movie and out to dinner every Saturday.

4. I know many writers, such as myself, keep their pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are their thoughts?

(Jenna) Ha, ha… my mom knows that I’m a multi-published, award-winning author, but she also knows my stories are too sexy for her to read. A few people at work know I’m a romance author, but they don’t know my pseudonym.

5. Will you share with us your all-time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.

(Jenna) “Favorite” is hard, because I read across a wide genre of titles. I love historical fiction, so Dorothy Dunnett and Bernard Cornwell would definitely be on that list, but I’ve also read and enjoyed Stephenie Meyer and Suzanne Collins.  Anne Rice was writing about vampires before they were trendy, and as for romances, Leigh Court is definitely a favorite.

6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen, yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love to see cast in the parts?

(Jenna) I think The Legend series by Marie Lu would be awesome on-screen.  As popular as Insurgent/Divergent/Allegiant, for sure! I don’t know who I’d cast, though…

7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now? That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I swear it’ll go no further

(Jenna) Right now I’m just finishing up book 3 in my Tau Cetus chronicles, a slightly-futuristic series which features police agents and Beautiful Doll sex robots working to save their planet.  The titles are Programmed To Please, Programmed To Protect, and the third, Programmed For Power, should be out shortly!

8. Where can we find your stories, and is there a particular reading order?

(Jenna) You can find my books on amazon, B&N, iBooks, Kobo, Smashwords, anywhere books are available J  The order is listed above.  I also have The Initiation Of Isabella with Samhain Publishing, and there’s Snow White And Her Seven Lovers, which is a modern-day take on the fairy tale!  The title says it all…

9. Would you please share how your present and future fans can contact you?

(Jenna) Fans can contact me at jenna@jennaives.com, follow me on Twitter @JennaIvesAuthor or connect on Facebook.  I’m part of a multi-author blog at http://fierceromance.blogspot.com.

10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.

(Jenna) I write romance novels because with all the challenges and stress in our daily lives, I like to guarantee that a reader of my books can escape into a story with a happy ending.  We all deserve that!

Ladies and Gents, I hope you enjoyed my interview with Jenna Ives. If you have any questions or comments for Jenna, by all means, leave her a message below. But before you do, make sure and keep scrolling down because she has a whole lot more to offer!!

The saga of futuristic police agents and sexbots continues…

Tau Cetus police agent Leith Wyatt is tasked by the ruling High Council with overseeing the production of a robot army for the planet’s defense. Wyatt doesn’t trust the oily robot manufacturer Anson Carron, and when Carron gives Wyatt the Beautiful Doll sexbot Ginger as a gift, Wyatt knows it’s a trap — Beautiful Dolls are legendary for their addictive sexual prowess. Wyatt tries to resist the Doll, but Ginger is sweet, kind, sexy, and every intimate encounter puts him deeper under her spell. And when Wyatt discovers Carron’s plan to overthrow the High Council in order to grab control for himself, Wyatt must decide whether his loyalty lies with the planet he’s sworn to protect, or the megalomaniac creator of the android he now loves.

Author Showcase/Interview and Review of “Rubble and the Wreckage” – Rodd Clark

Gabriel Church knows you can’t take a life without first understanding just how feeble life is, how tentative and weak it stands alone. If you desire murder, you hold a life in your hand. Whether you release it to grant life or grip tighter to end it, it is at your command and discretion. Gabriel is a serial killer with a story he wants told. Christian Maxwell studied abnormal psychology in college but chose instead to focus on a career in writing. His background comes in handy when he thinks of writing about a serial killer. He can’t think of anyone more qualified to write the story of Gabriel Lee Church, and do so in the murderer’s own words. It’s been done before, but never with a killer who has yet to be captured or convicted. There was never anything more than a gentleman’s understanding between the two men that Christian would record Gabriel’s life story. The killer did not ask for his complicity in any crimes, nor did he ever ask for his silence. Christian’s interest in the man, though, is fast becoming something more than academic. When the writer and his subject become unexpected friends and then lovers, the question remains: What is Gabriel’s endgame . . . and why does he want his story told?

I was contacted by Rodd and asked to consider reviewing his M/M Romantic Thriller. So I read the synopsis of the book and immediately hopped over to Amazon to purchase myself a copy. Yes, even though he requested me to read/review the book and would supply me with a copy for an unbiased review, I decided this book was worth having in paperback. FYI: Paper books are my drug of choice.

Besides the book summary, which drew me like a moth to a flame, I found the cover eye catching in a “gross but I can’t stop staring” sort of way. Comparison – People who can’t help but drive slowly by a wreck and gawk at emergency personnel working on the carnage, attempting to glimpse what is happening; mouth agape.

Yup, that was me in a nutshell.

Anywho…….

As a fan of Criminal Minds, I like to figure out what makes people tick. Why they do the things they do. Rodd gave brilliant insight into the mind of a serial killer and the person (man in this case) who fell in love with one.

But along the journey, I found myself growing bored with the slow pace of the tale which I can only describe as a dry, written documentary.

I must reiterate though, Rodd demonstrated remarkably well the lure a killer has over its prey.

As for the ending….. not what I expected but not everything can be like you see on tv. HEA don’t always exist.

1. Welcome, Rodd Clark.  For
those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the
readers a little about yourself?
How did you get your start in the writing business?
(RC) I
started writing when I was a young boy.
I remember writing my first book by 16, titled ‘Non-existence Plus’ it
was riddled with errors and never saw the published light.  But it was a labor of love
none-the-less.  I became published quite
recently, feeling that need to mark one more item off my bucket list.  It was a M/M mystery Titled “Short Ride to Hell” and since I really
connected with my main character the next two books of his story quickly
followed suit.  I found a few publishers
interested in the series but being committed and with contracts already signed
I decided to write another book out of my usual genre and found myself enjoying
the character of Gabriel Church.  So I
submitted the new book to another publisher and when the book began to take off
I decided to do a series dedicated to him and his unique story.  I have issues with letting go of my
characters sometimes.  Not that it
bothers me, as long as readers feel the same way.

      2.  Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, please share how you handle it.

(RC) Interesting
question, I tell myself that writer’s block is just that point when your
characters are simply fighting to jump beyond the page and breath.  But it is difficult maintaining a schedule of
writing every day when you must also commit to the promotional aspects of
publishing and marketing.  If I encounter
a block I know this is life just telling me that I need to work that area during
the break.

3. Contrary to what some people
envision about a romance writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not
for the majority of us. With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing,
how do you spend your time?

(RC) To be
honest there is a serious absence of glitz and glam in my life.  I spend a lot of my time with animals.  And I have a menagerie of pets to occupy any
free time, which is a rarity.  My dogs
and cats are a source of both joy as well as troublesome pains in the ass.  But as a child I saw myself being a writer
and being surrounded by animals, so at least this much came true.  But even as I write these words, I have cats
and dogs that are looking at me with sour scowls which tell me it’s nearly
feeding time once again.

 4. I know many writers, such as myself, keep their pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you
write? If so, what are their thoughts?

(RC) I rarely
admit to being a writer.  Although I have
friends who know how I spend my days, I imagine few could actually name a title
for one of my books.  This shows how much
they are interested in me and not what I do in my secret world in front of a
computer screen.  And I guess I kinda
enjoy that. I am proud to acknowledge my successes, but for a writer who hangs
with mostly non-readers, I can always be assured they know I am nothing
special, just one of the guys hanging in the gang.  But between you and me, it is fun when I run
across another writer and we find ourselves slipping from the crowd to talk
about things like writer’s block and marketing ideas, or conversing on where
our next adventures might take us and what people we might develop as our
guides.

5. Will you share with us your all-time favorite authors? If you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top
ten.

(RC) Naturally I have favorites and enjoy the greats like John le
Carre’, Stephen King, Ken Follett, J. R. R. Tolkien and countless others.  But recently I think I enjoy discovering new
faces.  The ones I know to be cresting
the horizon of the literary illuminati very soon.  For me it’s like unearthing some half-buried trinket
left discarded in the sand then pulling it out only to find out how it shines
and offers great value for many to appreciate. The recent authors whom I’ve
found are in the ranks of writers like Allen Renfro, Lee Thomas, Erin O’Quinn,
Marshall Thornton, Dorien Grey and William Kowalski.  Though all are from different genres, they
all bring something special to the table and I’m utterly amazed at the talented
people working in the field these days.
I am forever grateful to join their league and I try very hard to
emulate them in any way possible.

6. If you could choose one book to
go to the big screen, yours or otherwise,
which book would you choose and whom would you love to see cast in the parts?

(RC) I
would love to see “Rubble and the
Wreckage
” hit the silver screen, and I could easily imagine the New Zealand

actor Antony Starr playing the lead role of Gabriel Church.  He is best known for his Cinemax series Banshee, as I hope your audience may be
familiar with.  I can say with a shy,
coquettish grin that I think he is the epitome of the character of Church.  He is both dashing and rough (and in all the
right areas).  He represents the raw
masculinity in that character I envisioned, and I have to confess to infusing
his beautiful image inside my skull whenever I am writing about Gabriel in a
book or an interview such as this one.  I
think he could easily portray the duality and show both the sensually flawed
nature as well as the morally twisted leanings of a serial killer in love.  It is these traits which made him such an
inspiration to this humble writer.

7. Would you care to tell us what
you’re working on now? That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just
whisper it in my ear. I swear it’ll go no further.

(RC) I am
working the edits for book two in the Gabriel Church Tales at the moment.  Readers have expressed an interest in seeing
more on the two main characters and the relationship Church has with his pseudo
lover, Christian Maxwell.  I was pleased
to continue the story because as I have stated, letting go is sometimes a
challenge for me.  The book is titled “Behold a Pale Rider” and takes a deeper
study into the men picking up shortly after the conclusion of Rubble and the
Wreckage.  I am also attempting to work
the third book in the series but trying to force myself into closing the
chapter on these characters.  Though this
prospect saddens me more than it rightly should.

8. Where can we find your stories, and is there a particular reading order?

(RC) I
have recently pulled my Brantley Colton Mysteries series from their original
publishers and should be moving them to a new house for a re-release very soon.  All books should be available at most online
vendors, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, KOBO, Google Play I Books, Oyster….  Hopefully they will be in brick and mortar
stores one day real soon.  If readers are
interested in M/M mysteries with a dark edge then I might begin with “Short Ride to Hell”, where we first are
introduced to Brantley Colton and his unusual circumstance.  He moves into book two in “A Cache of Killers” and ends in “No Place for the Wicked”.  I should be releasing them with my current
publisher soon.  I tried to write each
book as a stand-alone novel, but reading them in that sequence works best.  For the Gabriel Church Tales, book one
published by Driven Press and begins in “Rubble
and the Wreckage
” and travels into “Behold
a Pale Rider
”, as I stated with the same publishers Driven Press.  Hopefully by next year readers will see the

conclusion of Church’s tales in what is tentatively titled “Dominion- at the brink of sadness”.  Yes, that title has some ominous overtones,
and I hope offers some insight to the resolutions. But one can never be too
certain.  Because you can’t judge a book
by its cover or its title alone, am I right?

9. Would you please share how your
present and future fans can contact you?

(RC) Well
I suppose since we live in a world of social media I have to include some of
the sites where you can find me. I am always eager to speak to fans and other
writers, so reach out and say hello, I will always respond and thank you for
your visit.

10. Before we conclude this
enlightening interview, do you have anything else you’d like to share? The
stage is all yours.

(RC) I
appreciate the soapbox time, truly I do.
And since asked I’d like to remind readers how much their individual
reviews mean to authors professionally.
If the book stirred some emotional
twinge you hadn’t expected or made you reconsider a previously held viewpoint, then
it’s important that you stop and offer a note in the review sections, as on
GoodReads or Amazon or Kobo.  Even the
briefest of notes, good or bad, allows the author to know they made an impact.  And I value the less than stellar reviews as
much as great ones, fortunately I have fewer than I expected.  They allow me to see what fans want more of,
albeit more erotically charged situations or better characters they can relate
too. My writing has been considered dark and at times disturbing, but I myself
enjoy seeing what the reader has gathered from the work and I’ve made some good
friends along the way during the process as readers reached out to privately on
social media and email comments.  I would
like to build a fan base, as all authors do, and it starts with someone making
a connection and showing they first read the book.  So enjoy then stop by and offer your comments
and suggestions.  They mean a great deal
to the writer, I kid you not.

Ladies and Gents, I hope you enjoyed my interview with Rodd Clark. If
you have any questions or comments for Rodd, by
all means, leave him a message below. Thank you in advance for your visit!

Rescuing Cade by Elodie Parkes (Book Showcase)

Cade’s
trying to get over a broken heart when his friend Jack takes him off to a
nightclub, named only, The Club. Although at first Cade is shocked by the place
he meets Marissa. It’s not long before he and Marissa get together, but under
the pressure of expectations from, The Club, and Marissa’s fear of commitment,
they’re both running in opposite directions.
Gorgeous
Cade has touched Marissa’s heart in ways she doesn’t want to admit.
Lovely
Marissa has lifted Cade’s sadness and opened his heart to love again.
The trouble
is — someone has to give a little. Who’s it going to be?

An erotic romance with a sprinkle of vanilla BDSM
Sneak Peek!!! (18+Graphic sexual content)
The lights were low and Marissa took a seat at an empty table close to
the small group of people. Strategically placed, she took in the delicious
sight that was Cade, only a yard away now.

Blue eyes,
mmm, my favorite. Look at those lips, made for kissing, biting, sucking.
She cast
her eyes over his ass and thighs. She soaked up the sight of his handsome jaw
line and her eyes flicked to his groin, where she assessed the hang of his suit
pants and licked her lips at the promise of a big cock. Holy hell, he’s gorgeous. I’d like him on a collar and leash waiting
for me to slap his ass and fuck him senseless. I’d like to slip a blindfold on
him and run a feather over his cock to see it jerk to life. I’d like to tie him
to a chair, suck him almost to orgasm, and then leave him to beg for release.
Wonder if he’s dom or sub?

As Marissa considered Cade’s preference, he turned and looked straight
into her eyes.

A huge stab of sexual excitement throbbed in her pussy. With her clit
buzzing, she leaned a little forward to smile at Cade.

He looked away.

Marissa saw him gaze around the room. She watched as his shoulders
slumped.

The room was large and divided by obvious walkways. A small dance floor
held writhing couples, dangerously close to each other, some half-naked. Doms
occupied the tables with their Subs in various scenes, all taking their
pleasure without concern. Other Doms sat in the low leather lounges watching.
It was all much the same as usual. One Dom fucked his Sub from behind, one hand
fisted in her hair, and the other gripping her jaw turning her face to kiss and
bite her lips. A Sub straddled her Dom, her hands held high above her head tied
with a satin ribbon, as the Dom took his fill of her breasts.

Marissa heard his growl.

“Don’t you come until I say you may … I want you across the table.
You’ll come on my fingers and then my cock. Do you understand? I might have to
punish you again.”

The Sub’s whispered answer must have been to his liking. He kissed her
tenderly.

Marissa looked away. Her pussy creamed and a sigh of appreciation
escaped her. Marissa loved sex. She liked to be in control, although she’d
scened with a Master, a friend, when she needed release. Her role in The Club
was as a Domme, but she was vanilla, the specialist in helping newcomers.
Everything she did, she designed to bring maximum pleasure to her Sub whilst
simultaneously taking it herself. She enjoyed the control she wielded. It
suited her to be the one with the power, and in her mind, the choice to walk
away.

The Club had been open for more than a decade and was considered one of
the best in the country. Safety was their priority, that and pleasure. To
Marissa’s knowledge, no one left The Club after seeking a niche there and never
came back.

Marissa found her gaze straying back to Cade.

He stood awkwardly by the table where Jack finger-fucked his current
Sub. She laid back with her legs wide apart, her dress up around her waist, and
her wrists tied over her head with a blue satin scarf. If she’d worn panties to
visit The Club, there was no sign of them now.

Marissa watched the Sub squirm, whimpering for release.

Jack shook his head. “Not yet, sweetheart, I’m enjoying your lovely
pussy. Your cream’s running down my palm. I’m going to lick it up and then I’ll
think about letting you come. Are you enjoying showing my guest what a good girl
you are?”

The Sub murmured, her breath hitching as Jack bent and thrust his tongue
into her pussy.

“Yes, sir, it’s exactly how I hoped it would be.”

Marissa’s pussy drenched her panties. She licked her lips.

Cade lurched around and took a step toward her table.

He looked unseeing right into Marissa’s eyes, the expression on his face
a glaze of pure confusion, and then he passed by heading to the bar in the
corner.

Marissa watched him take a sip of the iced water he’d ordered, then she
too got up and walked away from that part of The Club where sex soaked the air
with erotic perfume, and the sounds of orgasm played havoc with her own
desires.

What’s the background to the story, Rescuing
Cade?

(Elodie speaks) I was asked
to write a story for an erotic romance anthology. Almost immediately I had my
character, Cade, form in my head and a love story for him, but then I was
informed the anthology would be BDSM. I thought I’d have trouble with the genre,
but the editor of the proposed anthology said, ‘give it a go’. I began to adapt
the love story in my mind for the character Cade, thinking I’d have to consider
the plot for a short time, but only a few days later the anthology was
cancelled. By then Cade was so real to me and a story with a sprinkle of the
genre, BDSM, was firmly in my mind, so I wrote it.
The story is
much longer than I originally thought it might be, especially when it was going
to be for an anthology, and the romance conflict arc is now about both Cade and
my heroine, Marissa. As usual, I fell in love with my characters and couldn’t
stop writing until they reached their HEA.
I did a
little research for this story because I didn’t know much about the type of club
Jack, Cade’s friend, takes him to. Once I no longer needed to place emphasis on
dominance and submission, the story unfolded easily, interweaving with the
original love story I had for Cade when he first began whispering in my ear.
With
scorching hot love scenes, tender moments, a dash of angst and a splash of
humor this is Cade’s journey to love again.
I hope
readers enjoy it.

Visiting today,
we have Cade Cassidy from the new Evernight Publishing erotic romance release,
Rescuing Cade.
Hi Cade,
thanks for coming along to the blog today.
Hi, thank you for inviting me. I have
to say it’s a little embarrassing seeing my story published, although it’s
great too.

What’s
embarrassing about it?
Well, without giving too much away,
the way Marissa and I meet is unusual, I think …
(He looks around and smiles as if
remembering it.)

So, Cade,
tell us something about Marissa.
She’s pretty, intelligent, lots of
fun and best of all she’s mine.

What is, The
Club? It’s mysteriously referred to in the book blurb.
The Club, is the name of the BDSM
club that my buddy, Jack, takes me to. He’s trying to lighten me up right at
the start of the story, because truth is, I was still recovering from a bad
break up. There’s a great description of The Club, in the story, which is sexy
and gives a good picture of what goes on there.

A BDSM club
… Cade are you a Sub or a Dom?
(He stares
at me for a moment with his gorgeous blue eyes.)
I’d rather not say. The whole thing
is still a little gray for me.
(Now he’s smiling.)

Okay let’s
have some quick questions.

What’s your
favorite, jeans, or a suit?
I wear suits and jeans. I don’t have
a favorite because I have some cool suits for work and some great faded denims
that I throw on when I’m not working. It took me a while to get those jeans
just the way I like them, ripped and faded. Marissa especially likes the tear
in the upper thigh part.

Do you ever
go commando?
(He grins
and his eyes twinkle)
Er, yes, sometimes in my favorite
jeans, the ones I just described. Once in a suit when Marissa and I went to The
Club to meet with friends there.

Do you like
making love with the lights off or on?
Both, either, it depends … Marissa
likes candlelight
(He
smiles)

Coffee or
Cola?
Has to be coffee. Are you offering me
a cup … I didn’t get breakfast …

One more
question. Maybe it’s a moot point since you’ve mentioned The Club, but here is
it. In bed, toys or no toys? (Okay, he’s laughing now.)
The answer’s the same as lights on or
off, both depending on the situation. I seriously need coffee now.

Author Showcase / Inteview – Annie Edmonds

 Please welcome, Annie Edmonds!

1. . For those who might not be
familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the readers a little about
yourself? How did you get your start in the writing business?

(Annie)  Sure Kam I would love to.  My mom has been telling me to write a book
for as long as I can remember.  I am a
woman who didn’t have an easy life.  I
married my first husband when I was twenty. It’s something I don’t recommend.  And by the time I was twenty one I was
widowed.  Back then they called panic
attacks a chemical imbalance and you were told to take vitamins.  After he died it was my dad that told me to
get back out there.  He knew I had an
invitation to a New Year’s Eve party and he wanted me to go.

I am so
glad I did because I really believe there was an angel watching over me that
night.  I met my true soul mate at the
door that night.  And we have been
happily married for twenty eight years this April.  Mike and I have been through just about
everything together. You could say we weathered every storm and our love is
stronger than ever.  Two years after we
were married I was in a freak car accident and have lived with chronic back pain
ever since.  We were never able to have
children.  But we still think we are
luckier than most to have the kind of love and relationship we have.

I’m no different from most writers; except I
have lived a lifetime in my fifty years.  What I mean is I can go back and remember all
that heartache and all those promises that were never kept.  So when I find myself in a crossroads with a
character I can usually dig deep and come up with something.

I didn’t just start typing one day and say, hey
I’m an author. No I have been writing for as long as I can remember.  I have journals that go back years.  And I have found short little stories that I
wrote when I was kid slipped inside books and sandwiched between family
pictures.

2. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, please share how you handle it.

(Annie) Well I hope I don’t Jinx myself by saying I haven’t had the
dreaded “Block” just yet.  I can usually
start typing and the story just seems to flow.
The trick is to sit down and not get caught in the e-mail, social
network trap.  I have to write before I
open anything or nothing gets written.

3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?

(Annie) I spend my down time on the computer haha, no glitz and
glamour here.  I’m usually in my sweat
pants with my hair up in a ponytail.
Like I said I open up my laptop and the hours fly by.  As an indie we have to promote
ourselves.  So between blogs, e-mails and
social networks there just never seems to be enough hours in the day.  It’s winter now in New Jersey and we are
stuck in the house.  The cold weather is
the worst for someone with the kind of nerve pain I have.  So I don’t get out much this time of
year.  I love the beach, I can find peace
there, and for some reason my pain levels go down.  So spring, summer and fall my husband takes
me to the beach as much as possible.  I
also like to garden, take photographs and we are foodies that love to
cook.

4. I know many writers keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?

(Annie) Everyone knows that I
write. And that I am now a published writer.
I’m from Jersey and that means I have a big mouth.  I think they were all a little shocked when I
picked the genre of Erotic Romance.  But
I asked everyone I knew who reads what they were reading.  And when most were reading some kind of
romance book I knew I had to give it a shot.
The research alone is fascinating.
I have family members that won’t read my books but that’s alright.  I am proud of myself.  And my family and friends are proud of
me.  And in the end that’s really all
that matters.

5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.

(Annie) First is the queen of erotic romance E.L. James gave us
Fifty shades of let’s talk about sex.
This woman gave women everywhere the license to talk about what they
were reading and thinking openly.  Cherise
Sinclair is another of my favorite authors.
Jinx Jamison; Madam X School of sex, Omg Yes!  Do you see a pattern here?  Sylvia Day is one of those writers that are
more subtle, but her stories are great.
Cari Quinn’s No Flowers required.
Then I go in a whole other direction with; J.K. Rowling, and Harry
Potter.  Suzanne Collins; Hunger games
series.  At age 16 Doris Lund made me
want to read with her book Eric.  That
book still touches my heart.  And I love
The Velveteen Rabbit, Kathryn Stockett.
That rounds out the top ten.

6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?

(Annie) Of course I’m going to pick my book; Second Chances Sammy’s
story.  I would love to see Jessica Biel
as Samantha Raine.  And Thor, Chris
Hemsworth as Jake Monroe.

(KAM) FYI: I looooooooove the cover! And I also love the actors you chose to play each character.

7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.

(Annie) Right now I am working on the sequel to Sammy’s story which
is Master Mike’s story.  I haven’t picked
a title and I really need a series name.
I wanted Circles in the Sand but I just saw another author put a book
out with that title.  When I picked
Second Chances I didn’t even look to see if there were other books out there
with that title.  Another lesson
learned.   Master Mike Sloan is an ex
-military man who is a man’s man.  He
owns Club Desire which is a member’s only BDSM club in Sarasota Florida.  I’m on Chapter five.  I am going to do something that I never
thought I would do and that’s make this next book shorter with a cliff
hanger.  It just seems that’s what the
reader’s want.

8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?

(Annie) Second Chances Sammy’s story is my debut novel, It is an
e-book.

9. Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?

(Annie)  I love to hear from my readers and future
readers.  You can find me on Facebook at
my author page. https://www.facebook.com/AnnieEdmondsAuthor

10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.

(Annie) I want to thank you, Kam, for having me.  I want to talk a little about my book; Second
Chances Sammy’s story is a believable love story.  We have Sammy who’s the widowed Jersey girl
and Jake Monroe; the handsome architect who is also part owner of a private
kink club called, Desire.  Sammy’s two
best friends ask her to watch their beach front home on Siesta Key, Florida for
three months.  She has no idea that her
friends have set her up by talking to Jake Monroe for the last two yrs.  He has been waiting for her.  And once Sammy commits her whole world
changes.  There’s plenty of sexy kink in
this book along with Drama. It’s a beautiful love story that comes to life
right before your eyes.

Here is an excerpt of when Jake finally meets Sammy for the first time….

She smiled and as she went to shake his hand he took hers and brought it up to his lips than kissed it, he never took his eyes off of hers, and she was shaking. “Oh my god Did he just kiss my hand, this guy is drop dead gorgeous and very tall, his arms are huge, he must work out focus Sammy focus”.

She just lost her breath in his crystal blue eyes that were mesmerizing just like Kelly said. The scent of his cologne was giving her palpations, he smelled like a man should. “Hi, Jake, nice to meet you,” “Samantha I am so glad we finally meet.”

She was gazing into his amazing eyes “I figured if you were friends of the O’Hara’s that it had to be alright for me to come out for a drink. Besides Kelly has your name on a list she made for me of people to contact if I needed anything.”

Sammy lowered her head to calm down and then she looked up at him “Actually Jake, you are number one thru four on that list.” She giggled, “Am I talking too much?”

“Samantha you’re not talking too much, actually I am stunned that Kelly has me on the one through four lists.” They both laughed, as she calmed down. Jake had such a warmth about him, he asked her what she was drinking, “A white wine spritzer please.”

He motioned to the hot tan bartender and he came right over; “Keith this beautiful woman is Samantha”, he smiled “Hi Samantha what can I get for you?”, Jake spoke right up “She would like a white wine spritzer the good stuff, and can you get us a couple shots of Patron.” Keith couldn’t take his eyes off of Sammy and then he looked at Jake, “Sure thing Jake, why don’t you both have a seat and a waitress will bring you your order.”

As Jake touched the small of her back he moved her in the direction of a nice table away from Keith the bartender, and he pulled out a chair for her and sat down across from her. She was impressed. “I have to tell you Samantha I have the advantage here, The O’Hara’s have told me a little about you. And when they told me you were coming to watch their home I was going to make sure I reached out to you. I want to thank you for showing up tonight, I hate eating alone.”

A waitress brought over their drinks and some oysters and a few other appetizers to nibble on, “I hope you don’t mind me ordering. I have a habit of taking control.” “I don’t mind one bit, I actually like a man who takes control.”

She giggled as he got a huge smile on his face and she started to blush, “I mean I like a man who is sure of himself, sorry I am a little rusty and a little nervous.” He smiled, “You’re doing fine, Samantha” and he touched her hand. “I haven’t gone out with a man in a long time.”

The evening was going great. They were laughing and once she had a few drinks she relaxed. Jake realized that she was everything and more of what he had been told. Samantha was even more beautiful in person. And the way she dropped her head and put it to the side, she was turning him on. Garrett was right she was very submissive and she had no idea, he thought she was sexy as hell.

And he loved hearing about her from her. Even though he already knew pretty much everything there was to know about her he listened as this beautiful woman told him about her life back in New Jersey.

The only thing that Sammy knew about Jake was that he was first thru fourth on Kelly’s list to call if anything went wrong. That he had a black lab named Rocky and that he was very handsome with amazing blue eyes you could get lost in. She was learning all about this very handsome man Jake Monroe and she liked what she was hearing. She kept thinking; why didn’t Kelly say more about Jake?

“Samantha it’s surprising that some man has not swept you off your feet in the last two years. She put her head down and to the side, “I would have had to put myself out there for that to happen.” He lifted her head up with one finger, “I guess you weren’t ready Samantha.”

She looked him straight in the eye after having a few wine spritzers, “I might not have been ready then, but I sure am ready now.” She blushed a perfect shade of pink as she heard that statement come out of her own mouth.

He gave her a wicked smirk but didn’t flinch and didn’t run; she asked him the one question she needed to know “Jake do you have a girlfriend or a wife?” He laughed, “No Samantha there is no one special in my life and I am not married. I almost made that mistake with a woman who was very wrong for me a few years ago.” She asked him what happened. “I had been working on a huge project for months and I found out that she was cheating on me, and I had no idea who this woman was.”

He opened up to her, “She lied to me about so many things, I have been extremely careful ever since, it took me awhile to get back out there too Samantha.” She was impressed with this man, he was an architect and builder and he truly loved what he did.

He told her that he had done all the renovations on the O’Hara’s home. Sammy liked what she was hearing and that he owned his own company that he started from the ground up. He was a self-made man. And she very much liked what she was seeing and hearing.

She realized he had said he did the remodel for Kelly and Garrett, and she started to blush again. “Was it something I said Samantha?” She looked down and to the side; “It was just the remodel that caught me off guard.” He got this look on his face and he smiled as he took that last shot of tequila and bit the lemon wedge, then he shook his head yes, “Yes I worked on that room for almost six months while my crew took care of the rest of the house.” And she started to laugh.

He had this wicked half smile on his face as he laughed with her and never took his eyes off of her. He loved her laugh and her nervous giggle; she was as perfect as Garrett had said. She blushed some more thinking about him in that kink room putting together those wooden cabinets and hanging that leather swing.

While they talked and ate the grouper he ordered, they listened to the band who were playing old eighties music, and they each did one more shot of tequila. They were having a great time laughing, talking and touching; things were going so smoothly and everything was perfect.

Jake offered her the last couple oysters even though she hadn’t eaten any of them. “I don’t think so,” she smiled and then she remembered change is good. “Ok, make me one.” He looked surprised than he squirted some lemon on a fresh shucked oyster and held it to her mouth, “Swallow Samantha.” She looked into his blue eyes and answered right back, “Don’t mind if I do,” then she went for it. He was amazed that she had taken that oyster then she asked for another. “Samantha you’re really blowing my mind right now.” She loved the way he said her name, no one but her mom called her Samantha.

The night was going great but the Oyster bar was getting ready to close. The band was packing up, the bar keeper had called last call an hour ago. She didn’t want this night to end. She also shouldn’t of had that last shot, three white wine spritzer’s and two shots of tequila was just too much for her.

He asked if she was alright to drive home and she smiled, “Nope, I think you are going to have to drive me home,” “Good call little one.” With the bar closing right behind them Jake tipped the bar keeper a hundred dollar bill. He had already taken care of the check. Then he asked Sammy for her keys to the rover, she handed him her keys without a care in the world. He stood in front of her and as she got up she looked up into his eyes and he gazed back into hers. “You have the most beautiful eyes Samantha; she giggled, “And so do you Jake.” He wanted to kiss her but he held back as he put his arm out so that she had something to hold onto. She squeezed his bicep and snuggled her head into him as she breathed in his cologne.

He smiled as he escorted her to the Range Rover. He opened the passenger side door and helped her in then went around to the driver’s side and she thought he was a true gentleman. They started to pull away, “I should give you the address.” “Just sit back beautiful I have been to your house many times, I drove there every day for six months. I have also been to a few parties at the O’Hara’s. I think I could find my way there with my eye’s closed Samantha.” She sat back as the music played she could smell his cologne and it was making her Horney. It was only eleven o’clock and even though she had had a full day she was ready for whatever this night might bring.

As Nora Jones was playing on the radio he asked her how her trip was going and how long she was actually staying, “Well so far I have had a spectacular day. I am staying for three months and if the rest of the trip is anything like today I think I just may never leave.”

Jake smiled that perfect smile he had and she giggled, than hiccupped, and they both laughed, “I think we should spend more time together Samantha. Would that be something your open too?” She smiled, “I would really like that Mr. Monroe.” She hiccupped again then giggled, which made them both laugh.

When they arrived at her new home Jake parked the Rover in the garage, “Stay here little one, he ran over to the passenger side and led her out by taking her hand. She had her shoes in the other. He walked her to the door and unlocked it.

He walked right in and went to the refrigerator and opened a bottle of water. “Drink this Samantha,” she hiccupped and then giggled, and he laughed, “I am going to hold your ears tight while you drink this water. She looked up and didn’t hesitate she just did it. She lifted the bottle to her lips as he placed his strong hands over her ears tight, as if her head was in a vice. She looked up at him as he said “drink, drink, drink” she swallowed as much water as she could. And then he let go and took the bottle away from her lips and he watched her waiting to see if the hiccups were gone. “You did it, there gone, thank you Jake.”

“Would you like to take a walk on the beach with me, I really don’t feel safe walking alone at night just yet.” “I would love to walk with you on the beach.” He took his shoes off and opened the sliding doors; she told him she would be right back after using the bathroom.

She walked out and met him on the patio; and noticed the Jacuzzi was running. She gave him a smile, “What do you think?” “I’m game if you are,” he smiled “Let’s take that walk on the beach first.” He held his hand out and she took it.

They walked in the powdery sand that was now cold as their feet touched it and felt great, “Jake, I am really glad that you called.” “I am really glad I called too, I wanted to thank you for taking care of Rocky at the beach today.” She smiled “I love dogs, he is beautiful Jake, oh and I have Rocky’s tennis ball.” He smiled “I have a feeling that there will be plenty of time for you to give Rocky his ball back. Hold onto it he has plenty of them. I will bring him by one afternoon if that’s alright with you Samantha.” “I would love that Jake.”

As they watched the moon over the water Jake felt what he had hoped for was standing right next to him. “I have had a really great time tonight, and I really would love to see you again Samantha.” “I would like that too Jake.” He faced her and took her head in his huge hands, he rubbed his thumb over her bottom lip and he kissed her like she had never been kissed before. It was a slow sweet wet kiss, one that she was not going to forget any time soon. He had waited a very long time for that kiss.

Author Showcase / Interview – Karli Rush

1. Welcome, Karli Rush. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in the writing business?

(Karli) First, I want to say thanks for having me here today. How I got into this business? Let me see? I was visiting a good friend of mine who happened to be a practicing shaman. She sat me down and told me that my spirit was missing something. It was missing creativity, and if I found something that I loved which was also creative then it would bring a balance to me. I am a mother and wife. I am also Native American, although you probably wouldn’t guess to look at me. I am fiercely independent and love to be in the arms of a good man. I obsessed over every Stephen King book I could get my hands on as a teen. I write to be a better writer. I want everyone to “get” my books. I guess once that happens then maybe I will be a decent writer. I love “love” and all the joys of discovery that comes with a new relationship. I also love the fear that hides in the shadows. That’s why I write paranormal romance.

2. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, please share how you handle it.
(Karli) I read. When I hit that invisible wall and my fingers can’t figure out what key to hit next, I turn to the pages of authors I adore, and there are many. When I get sucked into a book it is all the therapy I need to get me back on track.

3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us. With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how do you spend your time?
(Karli) I go mountain bike riding. I love walking in the woods. Nature is one of my best friends. I have a unique relationship with nature that I don’t quite understand. An example would be the two wild turkeys that roost on my back porch. They are more like pets by now, but it is funny to watch people that come and visit whip out their phones and start taking pictures of them, too funny.

4. I know many writers keep their pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are their thoughts?
(Karli) My friends are supportive and several even beta read for me. It feels good to have that type of encouragement around me.

5. Will you share with us your all-time favorite authors? If you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
(Karli)
Stephen King!
Richelle Mead
Patricia Briggs
Gena Showalter
Kresley Cole
C.D. Reiss
Ava Lore
Andra Brynn
Andrea Randall
Teresa Mummert
(Kam) I love Gena and KC, too.

6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen, yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love to see cast in the parts?
(Karli) Okay, I would die to have Crescent Bound made into a movie. The cast can be anyone, but Marc should really be someone that looks like Justin Hartley. I would be so happy to have unknown actors that have talent, giving them a shot at success too.

7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now? That is if it’s not topsecret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I swear it’ll go no further.
(Karli) *leans over and whispers* I am working on a top secret project with a close friend of mine. It will be a contemporary romance.
*Back to a normal voice* I have a book cover for my next project, which is book two for the “No Death for the Wicked” series. Want to see it? No one, outside of my street team, has seen this cover. So consider this an exclusive!

8. Where can we find your stories, and is there a particular reading order?
(Karli) Below is my author page on Amazon. All my books are there and you can read any of them. My trilogy, the Bound series, should be read in order, but other than that, no order.
http://www.amazon.com/Karli-Rush/e/B007DJNOMW

9. Would you please share how your present and future fans can contact you?
(Karli) rushbound12@gmail.com Sending me an email here is the best way to contact me. .

10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
(Karli) Thanks, I won’t go politician on you and rant for two pages, but I would like to give a shout out to all the Indie authors out there. Being an independent author is like being in a row boat on the ocean. We all do our best to produce the best work we can. We strive for that elusive perfect book. It is a fanatical dream to be able to publish as an indie. I know that quality is so important, from editing to story content, character and world building, and the art of telling the tale. I strive to make each book I write better than the last one and I will keep getting better. I love writing and I hope my readers enjoy the stories I create. I can’t ask for more than that.
Thanks again for allowing me to do this.

Ladies and Gents, I hope you enjoyed my interview with Karli Rush. If you have any questions or comments for her, by all means, leave Karli a message below. For now, please stick around a bit longer and check out Daylight – Book 1: Vampire Romance Novel (No Death for the Wicked).

**This paranormal vampire romance novel is intended for adults due to sexual scenes and adult language. Recommended for 18+**

In a small spectrum of the world is a city full of vampires and a very rare serum. This serum allows a vampire to walk in the light of day. The formula has been guarded for thousands of years, and yet a young female vampire from the north claims to have lived on the serum as if it is common place… This can not be… This must be dealt with. Mattie desires two things, getting Daylight back and Him.

I chunk my bag under the pedestal sink and take a look around. Red glazed-brick lined walls, a couple of oval beveled mirrors, and red clustered round lanterns hanging from the ceiling. I grip the sink with both hands and give myself a mental pat on the back for making it this far. My big brown dull eyes reflect back what I know already. I need to cater to my thirst, and soon. A loud commotion of noise directs my attention to the stalls on my right. Thumping, no, a pounding, frantically someone’s being attacked. Right here in the effin’ bathroom. The spiked scent of blood stonewalls me from twitching a muscle for a moment.

I look underneath the stall door and see two sets of feet, each pair pointing in the opposite direction. One set is definitely male, in hand-painted canvas sneakers and a female in wicked platform shoes. The male’s feet begin quivering as the attack subsides. Several minutes pass without any movement coming from the stall, I decide to stay out of this and begin to wash my hands. I glance in the mirror and see a lanky female step out and quietly close the metal door. Attached to the wicked platform shoes is a gorgeous female, with funky strips of bold scarlet hair which stamps an unforgettable impression. One look and I know she’s a very content grey-eyed vamp. How do I know she is a vampire? Her fangs retracting and the disregard she shows for what just happened, as she uses the back of her hand to wipe away a smear of blood. She sees me, smiles with complete sarcasm, then moves to the other sink and uses the mirror to check her hair and makeup. She doesn’t seem to care about the large stain of blood down the side of her white blouse.

“I know, I know… never wear white to breakfast, or dinner in my case.” She smirks at me then questions, “New in town? I mean you are at a train station.”

“Yeah, just arrived.”

“Are you here because you know someone?”

“No.”

“Do you want to know someone?”

Her question makes me snort, “Do I need to know someone?”

She reaches past me and swipes several towels out of the dispenser. “Solace is a big city and it is always good to know someone, if you’re planning to stay here.”

“City?” I mumble a bit confused.

“Yeah, it’s a city,” she wisecracks back with an arched pierced eyebrow. Drying her hands off she extends one out. “Name’s Pandora… now you know someone.”

“Mattie.” I grasp her hand quickly, making the contact short.

As she adverts back to re-adjusting her blood stained aristocratic blouse she grumbles something or other under her breath. It’s obvious it’s not the type of blouse she bought at a thrift store. All the fancy lace and pleats would have me go stir-crazy. Especially the white, I don’t do white.

“So, if you’re not here because you know someone, then you’re here for…?”

She beat me before I can ask her more about the city. I turn and lean a hip against the sink. “A serum.”

“Daylight.” She doesn’t even peek up as she states it so matter-of-factly.

“That’s the one.” I try to sound all suave and non-nonchalant about it, even though I’m screaming inside my head going where the hell can I get my hands on it?!

“Hey, I’ll tell you what… you can head back with me to my place, if you can help me not look like a fucking serial killer. You really don’t want to hang out here in the bathroom all day do you?”

“Well, since you put it that way….” I dig in my bag and pull out my Goth black hoodie, the one with the skeletal hands clutching the boobs of the wearer. I hope Pandora has a sense of humor.

She slips the hoodie on, looks in the mirror and laughs. “Wicked. How did you know that I like my men with boners?”

“Is he going to be okay in thre?” I gesture to the stall.
“Yeah, he’s sacked out for now, but he may wonder how the hell he ended up in the ladies bathroom,” she clarifies with a wink. I shrug and zip up my bag, sling it over my shoulder and reply, “Okay Pan, show me this city.”
